Light Opera of New York, affectionately (and acronymically) known as LOONY, was created in 2006 as a professional, not-for-profit corporation. Our tag line, Bringing Light Opera out of the
Dark, has been particularly ironic and impactful since COVID.

Light Opera of New York has been struggling, like so many other small opera and theater companies, to bring wonderful shows and concerts to New York audiences. Many of our peer organizations are bringing the light out of the dark as we 'still' feel the impacts of COVID on live performance large and small.
