Rudolf Friml's ROSE MARIE
Mountie Gets Neither His Man…
Nor His Woman! Murder…
in an Operetta, No Less!
Transport yourself to Fond-du-Lac, Saskatchewan, closer to the Arctic Circle than the U.S. A mini-U.N., this outpost boasts 800 hunters, trackers, miners, trappers, and fishers who live in disharmony, except when singing such famous melodies as:
Indian Love Call, Rose Marie, and Only a Kiss.
An inept Mountie (Malone), a roving-eyedfur trader (Hawley) and a rugged adventurer (Jim Ken- yon) vie for the French Canadian songstress (Rose Marie La Flamme). Competing jealousies and mining claims (and even a murder!) delay the lovers’ denouement. And that’s just part of the story.
Wait ‘til you hear the music!
